After almost 30 years in state parliament, Nationals MP Andrew Fraser will today announce that he will not contest his Coffs Harbour seat at next year’s election.
Mr Fraser, who has been in parliament since 1990, has served as deputy Nationals leader and is currently an assistant speaker.
But the 65-year-old is best known for a run in he had with the then roads minister Joe Tripodi in the chamber in 2005 over funding of the Pacific Highway in his electorate.
Mr Fraser was suspended from parliament for eight days after he screamed “bloody liar” at Mr Tripodi and then grabbed the minister.
