After months of planning, work is about to begin on a revitalisation of central Coffs Harbour.
Construction will this week start work on the new raised, shared pedestrian/traffic zone on Harbour Dr, as the Gordon St and Harbour Dr intersection is closed for major drainage and traffic lights works.
The shared zone is the first part of the $2m city square revitalisation, which will be staged to minimise disruption to the peak trading times and major events in the square.
New shelters and paving are among other major improvements to come early next year in city square.
Coffs City Centre Masterplan committee member, Mr Rod McKelvey said another major project for the city centre would be the installation of shade sails at six new locations across the CBD
“The sails will not only provide shelter for pedestrians, but also clearly identify the heart of the city to Pacific Hwy traffic and visitors,” he said.
A street art project will also be launched, proposed to bring colour and new life to Park Avenue Ln
“All in all it’s going to be a busy year,” Mr McKelvey said.
