Coffs Harbour’s Chamber of Commerce is showing its support for the Jetty4Shores revitalisation concept plans.
Chamber president, Leonie Kennedy, succinctly summed up her feelings towards the project that is nearing the end of its public consultation period.
“The improvements that the concept plans are showing will make our foreshore a more beautiful place to visit,” Ms Kennedy wrote to the Advocate.
The concept plan covers improved accessibility, better car parking, boardwalks, addressing safety and drainage issues, upgrading amenities and giving us more reason to enjoy the Jetty.
Submissions to Coffs Harbour City Council regarding the concept plan close at 4.30pm on Friday, August 9.
Encouraging as many people as possible to make their thoughts known (be it positive or negative), Ms Kennedy said the time to officially have your say on the oft-discussed issue is now.
“This is an opportunity for the whole of the Coffs Coast Community to be engaged with the future direction of our city and have ownership and pride in a place we love to call home,” she said.
It’s her belief improving the Foreshores area would help to make the entire Jetty Beach to Muttonbird Island precinct something to be proud of.
“How many of us walk the boardwalk past the moored boats and yachts on the weekend or even after work and marvel at the wonders of the magnificent sea life we have in our harbour, including the beautiful tropical reef fish, the stingrays, not to mention the sea turtles?” the Chamber president asked.
“How many of us walk up to Muttonbird Island and sit and watch the awesome whales going north and the dolphins at play? What a magical sight.”
