We all know stress levels run high through the busy time, and for those of us in hospitality and retail it’s our busiest (and most crazy!) time of the year.
We’ve made it through the Christmas crazy (Phew!) but we’re rolling into weeks of school holidays with families visiting our beautiful Coffs Coast on their annual holiday.
This is when our customer service needs to be at its best and allow the amazing hospitality of our region to really shine.
For those in customer service roles, it’s tougher than it looks. We all want our customers and guests to the Coffs Coast to have an amazing customer service experience.
So how, as a region do we deliver the extra sparkle with our customer service? Here’s a quick 10 tips to keep you on your A-game!
- Say hello. To everyone. With a smile – even when answering the phone. This one simple act will go a long way.
- Breathe. This one may sound a little left of centre, but when you’re in the middle of the madness, stopping to take a breath allows you to relax and enjoy the hectic!
- Stay customer focused. Always. Having a friendly, welcoming attitude, abundant knowledge and expertise allows people to relax and enjoy their experience without pressure.
- Go above and beyond where you can, be helpful. Be predictable and reliable in your customer service, if you’re unsure of something under promise and over deliver on the outcome.
- Create a fun vibrant environment to be in, for both your team and your customers. Ask questions – where are your customers from? Are they enjoying their stay? Can we help with recommending a restaurant/activity? Even if you’re just putting something through the till and only have 30 seconds with someone, that 30 seconds can leave a lasting impression.
- Know your product inside and out. Each customer is different and will require something different from you. Knowing your product will allow you to quickly find what it is they’re after.
- Be pro-active in offering recommendations for things to do in our region. Your favourite beach, café, restaurant, clothing store, bush walk. Whatever it is, visitors love local knowledge!
- Stay positive and talk positively about your product. Happiness and positivity is contagious!
- Take care of any issues quickly and without fuss.
- HAVE FUN! After all, customer service is all about people.
