The push for direct flights between Coffs Harbour and Brisbane continues.
Having lodged a business case to airline executives explaining the many benefits of reintroducing the route, the Coffs Harbour Chamber of Commerce is ready to take the next step in securing a deal.
The desire for for direct flights to and from Brisbane has even reached the Federal level with Cowper MP Luke Hartsuyker writing to Virgin Australia CEO John Borghetti pledging his support for the Chamber and its efforts.
“I acknowledge that commencing direct flights from Coffs Harbour to Brisbane by Virgin Australia would require a significant investment by the company but I believe the backing of frequent flyers, business people and the tourist industry would adequately support this investment,” Mr Hartsuyker said.
Virgin Australia dies have one direct flight between here and Brisbane coming up in the near future.
As the official carrier for the AFL, Virgin Australia will be bringing the Brisbane Lions team and support staff to and from Coffs Harbour for the NAB Challenge match to be played on Friday, March 6.
A direct flight from Brisbane to Coffs Harbour is taking off on Thursday, March 5 while a return direct flight to Brisbane is happenning on Saturday, March 7.
Seats on these flights are currently available for $129.
Meanwhile the Coffs Harbour Chamber of Commerce is holding its next breakfast on Tuesday morning.
