After the most recent council elections, where Coffs Harbour Chamber of Commerce president and also its secretary both were elected as councillors, the chamber foresees even closer collaboration between council and the chamber – your voice in business.
In addition, the business community of Woolgoolga and the Northern Beaches now also have a voice on council, through the president of the Woolgoolga and Northern Beaches Chamber of Commerce, who was also elected as a councillor.
Through collaboration and cooperation these organisations, together with the Sawtell Chamber of Commerce and other similar groups can be one voice for the business community in the local government area. That is exciting and promises to see increased opportunity to work together for a thriving local business community.
If you are in business, and have not joined your local chamber, now is the time as a way to give your input.
There is strength in numbers and every business in a local economy should have a means to have their say. The larger your local chamber, the stronger the local economy.
Voting strength, cohesion, financial strength, overlapping membership with the council, and ability to involve members in the community are resources which make for chamber influence.
All the signs are there for a thriving future. Already this month some exiting events are one the cards.
The Curry Festival is a celebration of Woolgoolga’s unique Punjabi heritage and is even better, with over 100 stalls, curries from around the world, exotic spices, multicultural cuisine, Woolgoolga’s famous blueberries, mindfulness and meditation, music, dancing and cultural performances.
It’s also time for the Coffs International Buskers and Comedy Festival, which involves many shows across 15 venues over six days.
Shows include family entertainment in the streets of Coffs Harbour and in the surrounding villages including Woolgoolga and Sawtell.
There are evening shows in the North Coast Botanic Gardens and adult shows in local pubs and clubs.
Artists travel from across the globe and within Australia for the country’s largest gathering of professional buskers.
Then, to boot, there is the NSW Girls State Football Championships.
